The Opportunity

As Ronald McDonald House prepares to open its new Regina House, we are seeking a Director of Operations to join early and play a key role in bringing the House to life. This is an extremely rare opportunity to receive hands-on training in Saskatoon at a House that has been rooted in the community for over forty years, before transitioning to Regina to support final construction, operational setup, and readiness ahead of opening.

In the early stages, you will be deeply involved in pre-opening work supporting planning, logistics, and problem-solving as timelines evolve and priorities shift. As the House opens, you will move into leading day-to-day operations, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for families.

You will lead people, programs, and processes with care in a role that is both strategic and hands-on.  As the face of the House, your presence is both confident yet approachable. You can build trust easily, lead with empathy and aren’t afraid to have tough conversations when needed. Your finger is always on the pulse of operations, from implementing program policies to maintaining safety and cleanliness throughout the house.

Key Responsibilities

As the Director of Operations, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:

Program & Family Support Leadership

• Lead and oversee daily operations of the House across three core departments: Family Services, Family Programs, Food Programs, and Facility Maintenance.
• Manage and mentor department Coordinators and their teams, providing ongoing guidance, coaching, and performance reviews.
• Collaborate closely with the COO and Provincial Operations Management Team to align day-to-day activities with strategic goals.
• Support family service staff in resolving concerns, creating a sense of safety and belonging for all.
• Maintain strong relationships with hospital and healthcare partners to support Family Centered Care.
• Ensure program policies and check-in/check-out procedures are followed with warmth and professionalism.

Facilities & Food Program Oversight

• Ensure food safety, inclusivity, and excellence in guest food experiences, including donor-supported meals and volunteer baking initiatives.
• Oversee the safety, cleanliness, and comfort of the House, ensuring maintenance and capital projects are tracked and completed.
• Conduct quarterly walkthroughs and develop preventative maintenance plans with the Facility team.

 Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Coordinate with the Saskatoon based Volunteer Manager to ensure the House is well-supported by trained and appreciated volunteers.
• Maintain an approachable presence in the House, engaging regularly with families and volunteers to foster a culture of recognition and gratitude.
• Represent Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan externally through occasional community engagement, partner relationship-building, and promotional opportunities.

Risk Management & Organizational Alignment

• Participate in OH&S and Board Risk Committee meetings and lead local health and safety compliance.
• Serve as the on-call point of contact for operational issues, emergencies and after-hours escalations.
• Ensure Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI) and trauma-informed principles are embedded in daily operations and staff and volunteer development.

Qualifications

As the Director of Operations, you will bring:

• A bachelor’s degree in management, operations, or a related field.
• 5-10 years of leadership experience in a similar role.
• Deep understanding of trauma-informed practices and a demonstrated commitment to Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI).
• Strong situational judgement and critical thinking skills with the ability to assess family needs and organizational impact in high-stakes decisions and be a calm force.
• Effective communicator with experience giving and receiving feedback to foster a culture of learning, trust, and accountability.
• Outgoing and approachable presence, comfortable being the face of the House, fostering relationships with health care partners, donors, families, and volunteers.
• Proven ability to lead managers and staff across multiple departments.
• Relationship-building expertise with community members, government agencies, and external stakeholders.
• Willingness to be onsite, build in-person relationships, and actively engage in all areas of house operations.
